GPhC Exam Pass Rate
Since 2011, pass rates for the registration assessment have ranged from 72% to 95%. In the past five years, they fell to an all-time low but they bounced back in 2021 to 88%. From our analysis, the main factors apart from how much you study, are as follows:
- Placement: On average 91% of hospital pre-registration students pass first time, in comparison to their community pharmacy pre-registration counterparts who only reach a mere 76%.
- Gender: Female candidates are 5% more likely to pass the exam than male students.
- Ethnicity: White - British and White Irish are most likely to pass on their first attempt in comparison to other candidates.
- Location: Welsh and Scottish candidates perform better than England-based students.
- Organisation: working at different pharmacy organisations as a pre-reg increases your likelihood of success, see the image below for the latest statistics.
So, given these statistics (generated from GPhC data), the most successful candidate for the GPhC Exam is a white woman working in a Scottish hospital pharmacy.
