Pharmacy and Google

Google is a fantastic tool for managing your pre-reg and business in general. A few examples of how this can make your pre-reg and subsequent pharmacy career better are:

  • Locum Invoices - you can use Googe Docs to store invoices that you have sent to pharmacy organisations for payment. Star them to show that you have sent them, then unstar them when you have received payment.
  • Continual Professional Development - the GPhC provision of online CPD recording you will find is a little clunky. Make a file inside of Google Drive entitled "Learning" and add documents that you find useful.
  • Google Calendar - you can use this in conjunction with a service such as https://youcanbook.me/ to get informal booking for locuming.
  • Google forms - inside Google Drive you can publish forms, it would be very professional for you to add a link to a form entitled "how did I do" which you submit to organisations that have hired you. Questions could include: comments for improvements, rating of friendliness etc

To become a successful pharmacist we recommend the following:

  • Become web-savvy - learn how to use Google whilst keeping a sceptical mind about the data retrieved. Always keep in mind the "authority" of the data that you find, and always question whether it is a good source.

  • Use Google tools - as described above using Google Drive can be extremely beneficial, there are tools to make online surveys and generate databases and reports.
